The Intercultural Dialogue Course which is promoting cultural understanding and Solidarity in Cork .


The project to develop a more diverse society by building and establishing friendly relationships and understanding between

ethnic minorities and Irish people.

The Intercultural Awareness Club is designed to help people from different immigrant groups and Irish people to connect with one another by exchanging information about their respective countries of origin and by exploring their experiences as newcomers to Ireland .


Each week, participants explore a specific theme, with each person sharing what that theme means in their own country of origin such as family and kinship structures, childcare, education, work and employment, transport and trade, health care, life in old age, relations with other countries, etiquette and manners, festivals and games. The discussions supported by a facilitator who helps to promote understanding between participants and to clarify key points.

Refreshments available following the facilitated discussions and an opportunity for the participants to mix informally provided.


Who can be enrolled?

anybody who has immigrated to Cork in the past five years may participate in this programme, including asylum seekers and refugees,

as well as Irish people. However, there is a limit of 16 places on the each course. Participants must be over 18 year of age.


The Courses are the project of the Eastern European Association of Ireland facilitated by Social and Health Education Project and supported by Cork City Partnership, Eastern European Association of Ireland and Pobal.

Courses are FREE of charge.
