Subject: Sky News Proposal
As part of Sky News Ireland's "Eye On Ireland" series, we are seeking a volunteer from the asylum seeker community here. "Eye On Ireland" aims to document the everyday lives of people in Ireland. We are hoping to compile a 2-3 minute report on the daily life of an asylum seeker. How easy is it to live on the weekly direct provision allowance of €19.10? What are the daily frustrations of being prevented from taking up employment? Have you got a valuable skill (doctor, teacher etc.) that is going to waste? How difficult is it to process your application?
Ideally, we would like to identify the volunteer by name and in person. But if you do not wish to be identified, we can film the piece anonymously.
If you're interested in taking part, please contact Itayi at the IRC (01-8730042).
Regards,
Tadhg Enright,
Sky News Ireland.
