STORYTELLERS THEATRE COMPANY and
DUBLIN CITY COUNCIL
Theatre Workshops
People from other cultures now living in Ireland contribute hugely to Irish society, not only economically but also spiritually and creatively. The arts have a key role to play in ensuring that people from abroad are made to feel welcome, that their language, music and culture is acknowledged and celebrated.
Storytellers, in association with the Arts Office of Dublin City Council, want to set up a Theatre Workshop specifically for people from Central/Eastern Europe now living in Dublin. These workshops will augment a new play which Storytellers has commissioned from the writer Paul Meade. The play focuses on six characters most of whom are from Poland and Romania.
The work will involve creative writing, vocal/physical skills and improvisation. No theatrical experience is necessary. However, a desire to play and to share stories is very welcome.
Our aim is to bring people together and to possibly form the basis of an ongoing theatre laboratory.
Time / Dates: Each Wednesday from 7 – 10pm.
Starting Wednesday 20 September - Wed 8 November (8 weeks).
Where:
The Lab, Foley Street, just off Talbot Street, Dublin 1 (Busarus Luas Stop)
How to get involved:
Contact: Liam Halligan at Storytellers on 01 671 1161 or liam@storytellerstheatrecompany.com
There is a maximum of 20 places available and admission is free of charge.
Storytellers Theatre Company Limited is a professional theatre company founded in 1986. They are funded by The Arts Council and Dublin City Council. They have been nominated for three awards by the Irish Times/ESB Theatre Awards over the past two years.
