Dear interpreter,
Please see message below
I'm the Communications Manager for Barretstown children's charity in Co
Kildare.
We are urgently searching for fun-loving interpreters to volunteer at
our camps for children with cancer
and other serious illnesses and I was wondering if any of your contacts
might be able to help please?
We are preparing to welcome 1,500 children and family members from
Ireland and 21 European
countries to take part in our therapeutic programmes this year.
Interpreters must be over 18 and fluent in English. They will help the
children take part in activities
ranging from canoeing to archery, drama to horseriding to ensure maximum
participation for
non-English speaking children.
In previous years we have been forced to find volunteers in different
countries and to pay their flights to
come to Ireland, diverting vital funds from funding more children's
places. This year we are appealing
for more Irish-based linguists to come forward to keep costs down.
Barretstown needs two or three interpreters fluent in English and one of
the following languages for each
of the following camps:
10-day Teen Camp June 6 - 15
Czech, Slovak, Hungarian, Russian, Georgian, Romanian, Polish
10-day Children's Camp June 20 - 29
Danish, Swedish, Icelandic, Norwegian, Cypriot, Greek
10-day camp for Siblings of sick children July 4 - 13
Spanish, Hungarian, German
Seven-day Children’s Camp July 18 – 25
Italian, Portugese, Spanish, German, Hungarian
10-day Teen Camp August 1 – 10
Spanish, Cypriot, Greek, Italian
10-day Teen Camp August 15 – 24
Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, Icelandic, German
10-day Children’s Camp August 29 – September 7
Czech, Georgian, Russian, Slovak, Bosnian, Russian, Polish

Thank you for your time,
Hilary Makin
